Caskey Earns G7 Re-Qualification
Posted on April 28th, 2014
Caskey Group has requalified as a G7 Master Printer. Caskey has held this elite qualification from IDEAlliance (International Digital Enterprise Alliance) since April 2012.
The G7 Master Printer Qualification recognizes Caskey’s process controls to provide accurate, consistent color matching throughout the printing process – proof to print. There are currently 1,087 G7 Master Printers worldwide.
“Caskey’s printing standards and tight process controls have always provided our clients with the highest quality products with consistent and accurate color,” said Jim Chioda, Caskey Group Vice President – Operations. “It is nice to have a qualification that recognizes that not all printers are the same.”
Printing clients benefit from using G7 Master Printers. The tight printing controls assure that projects printed at various times and across geographic regions will look remarkably similar. This helps support clients’ branding standards and professionalism in their presentations.
Without G7 standards in place, the printing industry standard is to match “pleasing color” as defined by the client or press operator. Because “pleasing color” may vary from person to person, G7 standards are critical to ensure consistency.
IDEAlliance reports that more print buyers are requiring G7 to provide consistency with multiple printing projects across large geographic distribution, printing methods, and reprints. Caskey notes that since earning the qualification, several clients and prospects have expressed an interest in G7 printing facilities.
G7 is IDEAlliance’s industry-leading set of best practices for achieving gray balance which is the driving force for achieving visual similarity across all print processes. The G7 Method defines a colormetric definition for gray balance and specifies ranges for consistency.
To achieve G7 Master Printer Qualification, candidate companies must:
- Be trained in G7 calibration expectations,
- Successfully pass an onsite audit to ensure all equipment, processes, and printed samples meet G7 standards.
G7 Master Printer Qualified companies must re-qualify annually to ensure they continue to meet G7 standards.
